Two Wheels Marketing has used Raven Tools since 2010 through a couple version of the Raven reports, changes in available metrics, and also through their own internal changes in focus.
Company
Two Wheels Marketing is a boutique digital marketing agency based in Columbus, Ohio. They focus primarily on SEO, PPC, and social media marketing for local and national brands with results-driven digital marketing. Mark Subel is the principal, with over 10 years experience in digital marketing and affiliate marketing.
Problem
Mark says, “We were utilizing some exports from GA, Adwords, Bing Ads and either presenting them in a PowerPoint or in Microsoft Word.” They knew there should be a better way, so Two Wheels began researching reporting tools that could manage multiple clients with data from:
- several different social media accounts
- linking strategies
- search engine optimization audits
- search traffic data
Solution
Two Wheels subscribed to the Pro version of Raven Tools in May of 2010. Changes in internal strategy moved their focus from link building to PPC and paid social, but they’ve found consistency in Raven reports. They’ve maintained a Pro account for reporting and campaign management, spending about 1-2 hours in the tool per client for weekly and monthly reporting.
Two Wheels uses these Raven tools most frequently:
SEO Audits: They don’t overload clients with all the data that the Raven Site Auditor generates. Instead, Mark says,“we use the data from the Raven SEO Auditor to fuel our SEO audits. We do some pretty extensive audit + strategy/recommendations for clients, so we need more of a Word doc explaining things so we can insert more graphics and things – but we use Raven to fuel the information we post.” This way they’re able to provide clients with action items and targeted improvements.
WYSIWYG Reports: Two Wheels crafts targeted reports for clients using the WYSIWYG reporting tool. “We like the ability to integrate Analytics data with our main digital strategies for clients (SEO, PPC, Social, Paid Social Now with FB Ads). It helps that it can all be integrated and the user interface makes it easy to digest for clients,” Mark said.
Link Manager: While link building is no longer much of a focus for Two Wheels, they find the tool helpful in understanding the link landscape for their clients and tracking link efforts.
Results
Improved communication: Mark reports that as the Raven reports have improved, so has their ability to use those reports to communicate with their clients. The WYSIWYG Reports let Two Wheels focus the client’s attention on the metrics that matter, rather than distracting them with unimportant information. “Either we are getting much better at presenting the data and explaining it, or Raven helps us simplify the data and the presentation of it so that clients are able to understand it better.”
Less time spent on reporting: Two Wheels reports that they spend 1-2 hours within the Raven platform. While they may spend 5-8 hours working on monthly reports, only about 1 of those hours is spent pulling data into Raven reports. They use the rest of that time to write focused analysis of the data and formulating next step solutions. “The user-friendly reporting and colorful charts help to present the core metrics to a client in a way that helps them to see overall performance quickly (and in an aesthetically pleasing way). This combination helps speed up communication with the client. It’s not that we are purposefully trying to spend less time communicating with a client, rather, we are better able to present the information needed so that clients (seemingly) have fewer questions.”
More time for improvements: Two Wheels has found that Raven reports lets them focus their time in new ways. Rather than aggregating data from a lot of sources and rendering it into PowerPoint or Word documents, they’re able to see that data in a single dashboard and report. They can add their analysis and next step information directly to the report and share it to the client with a link. When building out new clients, they connect new accounts and then can import existing report structures, which saves them from reinventing the wheel for every new client. “The ability to save reports and replicate them in other profiles saves a ton of time and we use this quite a bit.”
