Raven Hires Four Smart (Ass) People
The One Whose Wife Bakes Cookies For Us
Jeff Crump joined Raven Internet Marketing Tools as an art director. Crump has more than six years of experience in graphic design, and most recently was Creative Director at Latocki Team Creative in Nashville.
Jeff’s daily duties involve design, illustration and jumping out from behind doors to scare unsuspecting coworkers (the latter a self-appointed task). He and his wife have a cat and a dog, each named Henry — an unintended consequence of pre-marital pet ownership. Jeff’s measures of manhood include knowing how to tie a half-Windsor knot without watching a HOWTO on YouTube, and wearing pants. He’s still working on that.
“We hired him because he’s helping us improve our image, as long as he stays in the office,” said Jon Henshaw, product manager and co-founder of Raven Tools.

The One Who Wears Low-Rise Jeans
Nate Griffin has been named senior web analyst at the Austin branch of Raven. Griffin has six years of experience in search marketing and web analytics, and most recently was the senior web analyst for BancVue Interactive.
A self-proclaimed Man of Action (it’s on his business card), Nate is always ready to explain the difference between metrics and KPIs and whether they generate sustainable revenue. He is just as likely to go on at length about himself. Nate’s gear-up songs for pressure situations include “Gimme the Loot” by Notorious B.I.G. and “Got Your Money” by ODB. He says this is why he occasionally struts into a room, as if he sees himself walking in slow motion.
“We hired him anyway,” Jon said.

The One
Arienne Holland joined Raven as the communications director. Previously Holland was lifestyles editor at The Tennessean, with 10 years of experience in design, writing and editing for print and online.
At 3 years old, Arienne threw a book on the floor and cried, “Oh, what’s the use? I’ll never be able to read.” These days, she reads books like The Toothpick: Technology and Culture and Napoleon’s Buttons: How 17 Molecules Changed History for fun and translates geek speak into common-man English for money. Previous jobs include: designer, art director, fashion editor and lifestyles editor. Most previous performance appraisals noted that she is “blunt” and “needs to cut herself some slack.”
“We hired Arienne because she won’t be an internet marketing guru for at least three more months,” Jon said.

The One Whose Favorite Sound Is ‘Personal’
Isaac Van Name joined Raven as a developer. He has more than 4 years of web development experience and previously worked as a PHP programmer at MMA Creative in Nashville.
Isaac is a Class B ranked chess player whose 5-year-old son regularly whomps him at Trouble. His favorite color is pale blue, favorite scent is good scotch and favorite video game is The Legend of Zelda (on Super Nintendo). He took three years of Latin and two years of French in high school, mainly to score well with women and on his SAT. He scored well on his SAT.
“We hired Isaac because we needed more developers,” said Scott Holdren, Raven Tools’ lead software engineer.
